5-4 Draft Questions- Khani Priest
- The common thought in Veracruz is that you cannot be an "active musician" and a "good mother" because the good mother definition is based solely on the needs of one's children (Gonzalez, pg. 70). The Entre Mujeres project challenged this assumption by proving that these musicians in Veracruz were both good mothers and good musicians. Why is it important for women to continue to pursue their passions alongside motherhood?
- "Chocolate" by Entre Mujeres was a very powerful piece of work because of it's message and it's meaning especially knowing it had an origin. How does this song "touch" it's listeners on multiple levels through the tune and the message?
- Exploring "son jarocho" genre of music from Veracruz has been a culturally stimulating topic because of the obvious uniqueness and the utter joy participators feel and show. Was this genre especially chosen by Martha Gonzalez when starting the project or was it just coincidence?
