1)      In the Somos Hip Hop piece, they describe hip hop as an “important part of youth expression of social realities” to bring awareness to many different social issues that these artists face. What makes hip hop as a genre such a great delivery method for social expression? Why is it so important for female voices to participate in this genre?
2)      What are some of the challenges that hip-hop has posed for women in the industry and how are women combatting these challenges? How are these women serving to break down cultural/gender barriers through hip-hop?
3)      In the piece by Jillian Baez, she describes how undocumented immigrants in the United States are often depicted as technologically illiterate, silent, and passive in the fight for rights and protection. What are some of the ways that undocumented are utilizing social media platforms to bring awareness to their situations? How effective is social media at furthering these causes considering the dramatic divides that this country faces on these immigration issues?
