5/18 Guest Questions - Carter Rowell

1.     For Black Mama: How did music influence you before you began writing your own music, and what made you want to create your own?
2.     For Caye Cayejera: In "Somos Hip Hop," the author states that "it is hip-hop feminism that is uniquely able to move women from the sidelines" (Castillo-Garsow 338). How is this participation in music similar to participation in social media as a method of fighting against social death? What makes these practices resilience practices?
3.     For Taki: How is the production of music different from other forms of media? How might other forms of media not allow women to express themselves in the same way as hip hop?
