5/7 Draft Questions - Linda Barragan

1. In "Missed Connections", the author writes "I care that someone might type in “black girls,” “Latinas,” or other terms associated with women of color and instantly find porn" (38). When a Latina or black girl search up themselves and instantly find porn, how does that make them feel? How does change the way they view themselves?

2. I question how websites and the Internet has changed the way people view themselves today. Considering that books were the main way of learning in the past, how does has the Internet changed stereotypes and how has it changed people's perceptions of culture and race.

3. In "How did Social Media unite and Empower DREAMers?", it says "as they studied, socialized, and immersed themselves into the American culture. However, as they reached adulthood, their constraints became apparent." How is this transition to dreamers as they had lived their whole life being told everything is possible and then as soon as they reach adulthood, they are faced with the many challenges of not being a citizen?

4. In "Afrofuturism/Chicanafuturism", it discusses how there is no portrayal of culture in sci-fi movies. Why has it been accepted and ignored that there had been no portrayal of minorities in these movies or shows?
