Altar - Olivia Brunner-Gaydos

"Remembering the Black Women Killed by Police"

My name is Olivia Brunner-Gaydos, and my altar is about honoring and remembering black women who have been unjustly killed by police. Hundreds of black women have been killed by police violence and yet there is very little recognition of them or change to the system. These women are of all different ages and lives yet they all suffer the discrimination of their skin color. This altar serves to bring visibility to what these women went through, and inspiring everyone to continue to fight for their justice. Many times these women are killed, yet those who killed them face little to no consequences and the violence continues. Along with their names and pictures, I have included news headlines showing how they are portrayed. I hope this inspires everyone to keep fighting for justice and remember those lost.
