Brainstorm 6 - Abby Hecko

In "Ceremony of Memory: the Call and Response", the word "technology" describes the knowledge held
by the Native women. Some of these technologies include scarves and headdresses which have the,
"meaning, intent, prayers, and energies that allow them to mediate with the natural world"
(Gonzales, p. 80) during birth. Not only is the  process of child bearing a resilience practice, but raising children
Is as well. Therefore, using scarves during the child birthing process is an example of indigenous knowledge
and strength practices.  During these resilience practices, women are seen in high regard socially. This connects to  the  “Girl in a Coma,” because it highlights the power women have. This being seen in the all  girl bands making differences politically and socially in the music community. In all, the technologies used by women have changed throughout history.  Some of these resilience practices include the use of scarves in the child bearing process, and they are used for prayer, meaning, intent, and energies. Another example of these resilience practices and technologies are seen by the social and political changes in the music culture.
