Brainstorm #6- Linda Barragan

In "Ceremony as Memory", the author describes different technologies such as calendars, and birthing customs made by the indigenous female culture. These customs brought a form of resilience to these women and refer to them as IK or indigenous knowledge. Technology today can be seen as modern advances but many disregard the tools used before such as the herbal medicines, and tools used by the indigenous women in the past. Convivienca can be seen in "Clumsy Sky" because both artists is working together as a way to make a  new piece of art to bring a community together. This community can be seen when there are people seen dancing to the song. All these people are brought together by a simple art form that is used to create a message. Even those that are seen as "alone" are still being brought together by feeling the music within them and "joining" with those that are dancing together. All in all, the technologies used by women in the past have been a way to unite a culture and bring the community together and music is an art form to convey a message and bring a community as one. -Linda Barragan
