Brainstorm #6 - Teresa

The ideas presented in these works regarding the use of technology to further Chicana  activism is additionally interesting because I was thinking about using a video in my altar/ofrenda and this kind of gives me some academic backing. Like Girl in a Coma I want to make connections throughout my word and show convivencia between my family members even across great distances.

The idea of convivencia across great distance is seen in the Clumsy Sky video where we see convivencia across time. Mixing inspirations from different genres that are a part of their history as well as cultural inspiration surrounding who their group is (the polaroid photos and the wall behind them). Additionally the music video features a crowd of people enjoying and dancing to their music, they too are in convivencia as they partake in the art that is the video.

In  'Ceremony of Time,' we hear about several traditional technologies like shawls and braids. Gonzales' view of technology expands on the way we might think about it today, she says it is  " the sacred landscape and ceremonial ecology" (Gonzales 86), this idea is about connection beyond oneself, and thus convivencia, and idea showcased in the Clumsy Sky music video and hopefully in my altar/ofrenda.
