Brainstorm 9 - Karen Velderrain-Lopez

Reading Priscilla's "Writing the Goodlife" reading, it made me think of the environmental racism that is still experienced today, and the effects are widely felt. It is no coincidence that more marginalized communities, such as communities of color, are living in more disadvantaged areas and this has an impact on their health and lifespan. As talked about in the "Indigenous Matters" reading, it is demonstrated how indigenous communities interact with their community and are able to think of themselves and the environment in a communicative sense, rather than an individualistic sense. This relates tho the land ethics discussed in Priscilla's essay. Having a more holistic view regarding the community and the environment allows for more entities to have their rights and be able to participate in a better community while experiencing buen vivir.
