Brainstorm Week 8

By: YuYu Madigan

This weeks readings about the Ecuador Constitution and Afro and Indigenous Politics are rooted in resilience practices while showcasing some truly disheartening realities.  Ecuador's constitution added a clause for La Pachamama (page 52) showing a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future but beyond that it also shows importance to culture. The wording of "Nature  has  the right to its restoration or reparation" (p62) was really moving and inspiring and I hope more countries shift their attitudes to align with this. Mother nature becomes a living being through passages like this, humanizing it. The earth is one of the best examples of resilience as it constantly adjusts, balances, and allows us to continue inhabiting it. This is related to the ideas of covivencia because we need to learn how to coexist with our earth and natural surroundings rather than taking it all for granted and exploiting its resources for our gain. It is a give and take relationship by both of us and all of humanity must be in it together. In relation to Chicaxfuturism, technology will be a primary driver in this mission to increase legislation and put pressure on the respective governments to include more clauses regarding La Pachamama.   This can be through social media as it provides quick mass spread of an issue.
