The altar follows the theme of powerful women. The altar includes famous people and people that are close to Ophelia and her family, but it is symbolic of women who "rock". Celebrating womanhood is so important to this tradition because it is crucial to recognize how important women are in serving as leaders in their communities. Women have given so much to the world, the environment, and people so the altar is a way to recognize these sacrifices and offerings that they have provided for the greater good of the world. The butterflies in the altar represent all those that they could not name because there are so many people out there that are making crucial contributions to the world. This serves as a portal of healing and portal of love and recognizes all the strong women making strides towards a greater world.
