It's very interesting listening to Ofelia Esparza talk about her family history. Having 9 kids, and talking about the impact her grandmother had on her, and her mother had on her kids, it's all very beautiful. You can tell in her family the mother's and grandmothers are very important and regarded very highly.
Listening to her talk about the altar in the first picture, the story of the girl who survived with traditions learned from her ancestors and was "rescued" and taken to Santa Barbara is also beautiful. I really like that all the items on the altar are made from organic material, and that Ofelia's research went in to honoring Juana Maria in this altar as much as possible. All of these altars that are being shown are beautiful and it's so interesting to hear their backstories and how they influenced Ofelia.
