May 4: Draft Questions

By: YuYu Madigan

1) From the grad.uw article, Gonzalez says that: "When you’re first walking through, the campus doesn’t look diverse. Some might argue that it just isn’t diverse. But there are pockets.", do you agree with this statement? Was your initial impression of the campus the same?
2) The Chocolate song reminds me of a montage sequence in a film, can you think of a scene from either a book, existing film, or your imagination that would be fitting for this?
3) In the Kickstarter video (0:43), she highlights that this is a collaborative project with Veracuz musicians and Chicana musicians from Los Angelas, in what ways does this capture the spirit of Chicana feminism?
4) Motherhood is an important theme to this project as referenced through the kickstarter video and the "Mixing in the Kitchen" reading. On page 72, she says that she "experienced a sense of fear and sadness.. in relinquishing [her] creative time", how did motherhood positively impact this project and how did you feel about her initial struggle with the balance?
