Hi! My name is Abby Hecko and I am a freshman majoring in computer science! I love running and ultimate frisbee. I also enjoy reading books and laying in the grass, but I do not like dirt or sand.
- In the bio on the UW Graduate Program website, it states, “the UW was initially a very empty space for her.” I am sorry the UW wasn’t a super welcoming community. However, I am glad you found your space and a community you feel comfortable and expressive in. What initially drew you to UW?
- Mendoza’s music is described to have “resonated deeply with the raza, working class,” (Gonzalez 10). What was the audience she was singing for? When she initially wrote her music who was she writing for?
- In the song “Chocolate”by Maya Jupiter, she illustrates the story of young Abdul and all his hardships. Is abdul real? Are there other specific people whose stories have influenced your music?
- In the Community Stories video on the Seattle Fandango Project brings up how Fandango is so special because of its power to unite people. In times like now, where we are socially distancing, what are ways one can participate in Fandango safely from the constraints of their home?
