The dreamers article showed us that it can provide valuable mediums for people to find communities and support, but the search engines article, Deus ex Machina and other articles have shown that the internet and social media can perpetuate malignant, objectifying, and sexist portrayals of women in general, but more so Black and Chicano women. Is social media more good or bad for social movements?

2. Ramirez in "Fictive Kin" talks about how she had to greatly alter her class syllabus due to her completely white class. She felt uncomfortable teaching only material about the struggle of African Americans to a completely white class. Do you agree with her decision to change her class to make it more broad? Aren't white people the ones who need to hear this history and have this discussion the most?
