Tuesday Draft 5/25, Grace Burchett

1.     In the interview with Julieta Paredes, she states that “communitarian feminism is a complex interwoven movement underway in Bolivia, Mexico, Chile, and Sweden”. This seems like an arbitrary assortment of countries, so do you have any ideas as to why the communitarian feminism movement is particularly strong in these countries?
2.     In the interview with Julieta Paredes, she also states that “we will not settle for a mere anecdote”. I feel like I have seen certain movements that claim to promote ideas of social justice, but instead feel anecdotal. One that comes to my mind first is when an item of clothing is advertised as “green” but in reality the material is like 3% recycled fabric and the rest is a manufactured polymer. Are there any other examples of “mere anecdotes” that you can think of?

3.     In the article “Dissonance and Community Feminism” the author argues that patriarchy has recycled itself throughout history. How have we seen this cycle repeated, and what do you think it would take to break this cycle?
