In the interview with Esperanza Martinez from the refinery 29 video, Esperanza says,“In order to function, capitalism has to, on one hand, exploit nature, but on the other hand exploit women” (1:33). Is there any way that in a capitalist society women can attain equality and nature can be protected instead of exploited?

Also, in the refinery29 video, they discuss how “For the women here, fighting oil companies isn't just about climate change, it's about maintaining a way of life” (7:45) How does having a belief system and way of life tied to the environment important in causing people to value protecting natural resources?

In What Does It Mean to Be an Indigenous Woman in Contemporary Times, Torre Amaguana says, “As Indigenous women, we have had to transgress those spaces and limitations set in place by society, family, customs, values, and behavior since our childhood” (83-84). How are Indigenous women practicing resiliency in their societies?
