Wednesday Draft Questions - Caroline Johnson

1.     In the video, “These Women Are Saving The Amazon”, how does the history and tradition of these indigenous groups make their fight against the government and oil companies even stronger? What can non-indigenous people learn from this and the benefits of connecting with nature that we saw here?
2.     In the article “What Does It Mean To Be a Indigenous Woman in Contemporary times” it is said that “Nonetheless, I believe this type of writing may incite others to express their views and support the struggle of women to overcome invisible barriers to our self-sufficiency and equality” (Amaguana 84). How is writing about the struggles that indigenous women have overcome an example of Chicanx feminism and similar to other art practices such as altar making?
3.     From threats to violence against them to kidnapping, as explained in “Unearthing Women's Anti‐Mining Activism in the Andes:…”, how do these women activists show resilience?
