This altar was a celebration of indigenous women and womanhood, it focused on the resilience of strong indigenous women. A previous altar had elote leaves made of aluminum used to decorate the outside. It really conveys celebration rather than grief, through its colorful decorations. This altar had does not have specific individuals being honored, but another altar honoring environmental activists had artful butterflies to honor the unnamed people who also resiliently fought for environmental causes. The ofrenda is a bridge that connects the living to the dead to honor the people who are gone but who's impact can still be felt today. While there are vignettes that focus on specific aspects or people the aesthetic of the entire altar is very important to connect and convey an entire story. Each little flower is an ofrenda represents the love and thanks of the creator.
